Why Choose Target Recycling?

Polystyrene is the stream most operations assume is unrecyclable, so it is written off and landfilled without anyone checking. Rigid PS and post-industrial PS scrap are recoverable and we take them. The real constraint is density rather than material: PS is light and bulky, which is exactly why it works best consolidated across sites instead of assessed plant by plant. We have run post-industrial programs for 27 years for operations including Nestlé Canada, Ford, and Apotex.

PS scrap we take from your plants

Rigid polystyrene, injection-moulded parts and rejects, sprue and runners, HIPS sheet and thermoformed offcuts, protective packaging and inserts, and clean purge. In gaylords, super sacks, bales, or loose on skids. Single plants and multi-plant networks run on the same program, with the same specs and the same reporting at every location.

Diversion you can report, value you can bank

PS is light and bulky, so transport rather than material value drives the economics. Densified or baled PS moves efficiently and earns a rebate on clean material. What most of our clients care about more is that it stops being an untracked line in general waste: every load carries documented weights and a documented destination, so PS tonnage counts toward ESG disclosure and corporate landfill-free reporting rather than quietly working against it.

PS alongside your other resin streams

Few operations generate enough PS to justify a standalone route, but almost every one of them generates it alongside PET, HDPE, LDPE, and PP. Rolled into a single program it rides the same schedule as your other streams, arrives under the same specs, and reports in the same format, so you are not paying a separate vendor and separate paperwork for the smallest line on the list.

One PS program across every plant

PS is the clearest case for consolidating across locations. A single plant often does not produce enough to justify a dedicated route, but nine plants do, and the same volume that looks marginal site by site becomes a real diverted tonnage once it is aggregated. We run one PS program across your Ontario locations, with a single point of contact and consistent specs and reporting, so material that would otherwise be landfilled at each site individually gets recovered and documented.

Compliance, audit support, and reporting your teams can file

PS runs under the same ISO:14001-certified system as every other stream we handle, with documented weights, diversion reporting, and destination on every load. Your sustainability team gets numbers backed by paper for ESG and corporate disclosure. Your EHS team gets what it needs for O. Reg. 102/94 waste audits. Branded or recalled PS routes through certified secured destruction with a certificate of destruction on every job.

Built to clear your procurement process

We are used to being onboarded properly rather than informally. We operate under an ISO:14001-certified system, are registered under the Government of Canada Controlled Goods Program, and work to a signed service agreement, with the documentation behind our diversion reporting available to your compliance team. Tell us what your supplier qualification process requires, from insurance certificates to safety documentation, and we will work through it early rather than holding up your sourcing calendar.

On-site logistics that fit your operation

Gaylords, super sacks, compactors, or bins, placed where your lines actually produce scrap, with scheduled pickups that match your production cadence. One vendor, one point of contact, one audit trail. Explore plastic recycling in Toronto, Mississauga, or Hamilton.

Contact Us

Can you run one PS program across multiple plants?

Yes, and PS is the stream where consolidating helps most. Volume that looks marginal at one plant becomes a workable route once it is aggregated across your network, under one program with one point of contact and consistent reporting.

What PS do you accept?

Rigid polystyrene, moulded parts and rejects, sprue and runners, HIPS sheet and thermoformed offcuts, protective packaging and inserts, and clean purge. In gaylords, super sacks, bales, or loose on skids.

What reporting do we get for ESG and diversion targets?

Documented weights, diversion figures, and destination on every load, with consistent reporting across your sites. It is built to support ESG and corporate sustainability disclosure and an O. Reg. 102/94 waste audit without reconstruction work at year end.

Do you take foam polystyrene (EPS)?

Expanded foam is mostly air, so transport economics decide it. Where a network generates it at scale, or where sites can densify or compact on-site, it works. We assess it across your locations during the site walks and tell you which sites are worth routing and what handling change would make the rest viable.

Is polystyrene recyclable?

Rigid polystyrene from an industrial setting is recyclable and we take it. Its reputation comes from expanded foam and the household stream, where it arrives contaminated, mixed, and too bulky to move economically. Clean post-industrial PS is a different material in practice.
